Closing of seasonal services at Fulford United Church was followed by a feast of national dishes of Brazil. Thanks to Aparecida Pinheiro de Quadro and her husband, Lawrence Smith, our hosts, along with Rita-claire Edmonds and the volunteer cooks intrepid as they entered unknown (to them) territory. We dove into a feast of feijoada, farofa, cove, etc.: black beans, rice, pork, beef, salad, kale (all with generous amounts of garlic and condiments) and sliced oranges. Desserts included fruit salad and flan (Southamerican-style caramel custard). Deepflavoured Brazilian coffee was served. Lawrence presented a refreshing caipirinha with cachaca, lime slices and ice, and Brazilian music played in the background. We are so grateful to our hosts for treating us to such delights, all with much charm. Obrigado!

Fulford Community Club held its always successful Annual Harvest Soup Luncheon and offered a variety of soups and pies. It was well-attended, including those from nearby neighbourhoods, who also patronized the Bake Table.

Congratulations to Pat (nee Graves) and Harold Baird on their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
