Stanstead hosts MPHL weekend

-

Stanstead College Varsity Boys Spartans will host the Bowers Division of the Midwest Prep Hockey League (MPHL) this coming Friday through Sunday at the Pat Burns Arena.

This is the second meeting of the season for the league, which will see teams from Rothesay-netherwood School, NB, Ridley College from Ontario, Rice Memorial from Vermont and local rival Bishop’s College School.

Currently, Ridley is at the top of the division (and the league as a whole) with a record of 5-and-0, while Stanstead and RNS are in the middle of the division with 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 overtime loss apiece. BCS is in fourth place at 3-2, while Rice sits in fifth with 1-4.

This past weekend, the Spartans defeated BCS 4-1. Friday’s rematch at 8:15 should be a highlight of the weekend as the Bears look to avenge their loss.

In addition to the MPHL games, this weekend will see the Stanstead Prep team play Heritage High School at 3:00 p.m. Saturday and Kuper Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Come out and see some fine hockey action this weekend at the Pat Burns Arena.
