Kinnear’s Mills Women’s Institute

Members of the Kinnear’s Mills W.I. met on October 16, 2017 at the Community Hall, for the October meeting.

President Huguette Blais called the meeting to Order and welcomed the members.

The Creed, Salute to the Flag and Oath of Citizenshi­p was repeated.

Motto: No matter where you go, there you are. Roll Call: Bring a book for winter reading and return it in the spring.

The Secretary Audrey Allan read the minutes of the last meeting, which was accepted as read. Following much discussion the I.O.OF. Banquet was planned to be held at noon on November 18. Linda Hoy sent thanks to the branch, for the meeting she had attended with our Branch in September.

The QWI Fall Board meeting will be held October 20 at the home of Sheila Needham. A masterpiec­e of George Carlin, (who died not long ago) was received from Claire Noonan for the members to read and enjoy. The FWIC “Take 10” Booklet is being shared by the members.

Conveners Reports:

Education and Person Developmen­t: Flora Macneal – The Annual School Craft Sale was a big success and Flora will be making Christmas Wreaths and Christmas decoration­s. Huguette Blais, read a poem.

Publicity and Awareness: Dorothy Bolduc – Queen Elizabeth will not be laying a wreath at the Cenotaph this year. Prince Charles will have the honours. Program: Check addresses and phone numbers. Being no further business the meeting was adjourned. Members enjoyed Helen Lowry’s cookies and goodies.
