TWinter 2017-18

he LDWC is buzzing with the winter rush of campaigns, activities and events! Thanks to a very positive fall session, The Parent Tap will start up again in January. This discussion group, which is designed to tap into every parent’s potential, brings adults together to support each other, to explore parenting techniques, and to obtain resources for problem-solving.

LDWC activities will also start again in the new year: LDWC Playgroup on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon (resuming January 16);

OWLS (Outstanding Wise Ladies Sharing) on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 4 p.m. (resuming January 10);

Painting and Bridge Group on Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon, (resuming January 12); and

YOGA Thursday evenings (resuming January 18). Prenatal Courses are offered to women and their partners three times a year at the Marguerite Knapp Building. The next session is scheduled for February 2018.

The 16 Days of Action to End Sex and Gender-based Violence is an international campaign whose aim is to work with agencies, groups, and individuals to end all forms of violence against women. In partnership with The Record, The LDWC supports this cause by raising awareness through sharing stories about people’s experiences, recovery, and work. White ribbons are available at the LDWC offices for those who would like to show support for the cause.

The Secret Santa Campaign is well underway, but there is still time to participate! Here’s how it works:

Sponsor: You will be paired with a child or family from the community. We will provide you with their wish list and you can select the articles that you wish to purchase.

Donate: Alternatively, you can donate a monetary amount to the LDWC and we will do the shopping for you! Once we have everything we need for each child, we will prepare the boxes to send to their families.

A $10 membership to the LDWC not only gives you access to a lower rate on all events and activities but also help us provide resources and assistance to women and children in our community. For more information, LIKE us on Facebook, visit our website: www.ldwc.ca or call us at 819-564-6626.
