Ken Jones Respite program brings holiday cheer to clients, families and guests!
On Thursday, December 7, the Ken Jones Respite; a program for persons with intellectual and physical disabilities (part of the Missisquoi North Volunteer Centre) CABMN in Mansonville held its Annual Christmas Dinner celebration for clients, volunteers, invited guests and family. The program is animated by Coordinator, Sheila Samborsky and Eszter Csiszer and is supported by a very active committee of volunteers.
The event held on Thursday was attended by 45 people who enjoyed a turkey dinner with all of the fixings as well as a plethora of delicious desserts. The clients greeted guests and anxiously awaited the arrival of Santa Claus following the meal.
Santa’s arrival did not disappoint as he entered with gifts for all and the singing of carols soon followed. Guests included Potton mayor, Jacques Marcoux and East Bolton Mayor, Joan Eby. The joy could clearly be seen as the respite program participants welcomed all and visited with those in attendance throughout the lunchtime meal.
The Respite Program meets every Thursday from 8:30am to 3:00pm in the Missisquoi North Youth Centre building at 282 Main Street in Mansonville. The participants enjoy a day of games, crafts, music, singing, visiting and fun. There is rarely a dull moment and the group that has been meeting for many years have formed a close bond of friendship and support.
