District # 15 Odd Fellows of Kinnear’s Mills
On November 18, there was another dinner put on by the ladies and gentlemen of Kinnear’s Mills, at the Odd Fellows Hall. These meals are exceptionally delicious and the Welcome Mat is so obvious - we all feel so welcome and at home!
District Deputy Grand Master #15, Robert Blais greeted everyone and had his day very well planned.congratulations.
He had all special officers and guests well lined up and it was such a pleasure to be a part of it, as we took our honoured places at the Head Table. We were all introduced and the ministers were welcomed, and then “Grace” was said. A moment was taken to remember our veterans, those serving now and those who made the Supreme Sacrifice, and those serving now and those who are suffering because of all wars. We then proceeded to the exquisite buffet with so many things set out - no one should have gone home hungry. The pies and desserts were also delicious and the service great for beverages .
All guests were asked to say something and all expressed pleasure and gratitude for the Invitation and all courtesies. Grand Representative Ed had certificates for two Noble Grands, the last PNG of Thetford, Denis Goupil; and James Allen PNG of Kinnear’s Mills. They were congratulated and accepted these Certificates on behalf of respective lodges with congrats and thanks. We were sorry that Thetford closed its doors and will truly miss all those wonderful members lost in the last few years.
Brian Lowry - a true friend and musician who exemplified Odd Fellowship, left a huge hole in many hearts; but we remember and honour them all!
Since we were remembering veterans at this time, Eric Robinson had a special
presentation. He showed a lamp made from a helmet and bullet of that era - very informative and interesting. He also spoke of the Battle of Paserale.
After all dignitaries were asked to speak the DDGM Robert asked all responsible for the banquet to come out and be thanked. Then we were were off to the meeting downstairs.
NG James called the Meeting to order and had the Warden to present Robert Blais.
DDGM #15, Robert, then asked all dignitaries to be presented. They were properly greeted.
The meeting was very interesting and informative. These down-east boys, as we call them, do a great deal of good for this whole area.
Lunch was ready again for those who had room for it. Then we were off for home. Arnold and Ernestine rode in style with Ed and Joyce - many thanks! Submitted by Ernestine Whipple
