Domaine Memphrémagog-surle-lac fined for environmental infractions

An Eastern Townships real estate company has been fined more than $65,000 for violating the Law on the quality of the environment. Between June 15, 2012 and June 19, 2014, Domaine Memphrémagog-sur-le-lac in Eastman carried out work in a swamp, a marsh, a bog, and on the shoreline of Lake Memphremagog without first obtaining a certificate of authorization from the Ministry of the Environment. These four offenses contravene section 22 of the Environment Quality Act.

The company, 9270-5912 Québec inc. has been ordered to pay a fine totaling $60,000 and must, in addition to legal costs, reimburse the prosecution costs incurred by the Department, in the amount of $ 5,307.
