Regional tourism industry association Tourisme Cantons-de-l'est (TCE) is pleased with the budget released Tuesday by Finance Minister Carlos Leitão that includes several measures favorable for the tourism industry, and which responds to requests made by the Quebec Tourism Industry Alliance (AITQ).

In a communiqué released after the budget announcement, the agency pointed out the main investments directly affecting the tourism sector:

- $30 million investment in major tourism projects

- $15 million to support the digital shift in the industry

- More than $ 173 million for regional air transport

"The government is continuing its investment program in the tourism sector by spending $30 million on major projects that have a significant impact on the development of the regions,” said TCE Chair Jean-michel Ryan. “Already, the programs announced last year by Tourism Minister Julie Boulet have had a positive impact with investments of more than $36 million over the past year. This budget continues in the same direction. The sum of $15 million dedicated to the digital shift of tourism businesses comes at the right time as online transactions are constantly growing and our businesses must make the digital turn."

"The budget also allocates $810 million to meet the labor challenges facing Quebec,” Ryan added.
