Living at the end of life

LLa Maison Au Diapason

a Marche/la Course for La Maison Au Diapason will take place on Sunday, May 6, 2018 for the ninth consecutive year on the city of Bromont’s magnificent multifunctional trails. The organizing committee invites everyone to come walk or run in memory of a loved one, whether or not they have lived their last moments at La Maison Au Diapason. The funds raised for this family-friendly event will allow La Maison Au Diapason to offer free specialized palliative care and psychological and spiritual support to other terminally ill patients and their loved ones.

This year, the Fondation Au Diapason is very pleased to count on the support of a passionate spokesperson, Richard Turcotte, radio host, actor, director, author and composer: “It is with pleasure and enthusiasm that I accept the role of spokesperson for La Marche/la Course 2018. There is a certainty in life. We will all die one day. When that happens, we all

want it to be in the best possible conditions. Surrounded by people who care about our well-being and our dignity. As if we were at home or even better, at La Maison Au Diapason. La Maison cannot continue to exist without your help.

“That’s why I invite you to come walk with me on Sunday, May 6, during the walk/run in the magnificent multifunctional trails of the city of Bromont. I will walk with you in memory of your relative, your sister, your brother, your colleague, your friend...”

More than 700 walkers and runners of all ages are expected for this event, which combines physical challenge and a day outdoors while supporting a noteworthy cause. To participate, simply form a team of ten walkers and/or runners. Each team must collect $2,000, the approximate amount needed to cover the cost of one patient for a week at La Maison Au Diapason. It is also possible to walk or run on an individual basis by collecting $200 or by donating to the event.

Due to their popularity, we will be using the same three routes as last year. The start of the event is at the Bromont Arena at different times depending on the route taken and La Maison Au Diapason will be the point of arrival.

Walkers can choose the harder 10-km, but also the entirely flat 3.5-km or 6.5-km. Runners are also welcomed at this event. They can chose to do the 11-km trail run or the flat 6.5-km or 3.5-km routes. All details regarding the routes and other information are available on our website at www.lamarcheaudiapason.com.

The organizing committee hopes to raise more than $300,000 again this year, which will be added to the more than $2 million raised since the first edition of the activity!

La Maison has welcomed more than 950 patients and their loved ones since opening in 2010. Offering a warm and soothing environment, the house is a place of compassion and support where devoted and passionate doctors, nurses, administrative team and volunteers strive towards the same and only goal: to ensure that the last moments experienced are full of serenity, compassion and love.
