Volunteers
CABMN Vice President, Brenda Clark acknowledged the close to 200 volunteers registered with the Volunteer Centre while Charles Laurin, its President encouraged folks to use the CABMN services and get involved.
Municipal Council members, Jason Ball, Andre Ducharme and Eddy Mierzwinski were also present to celebrate the many volunteers gathered. Musician, David Sturton welcomed the attendees with a selection of guitar tunes played as people arrived and throughout the evening as he and his son, Julien welcomed all.
Refreshments were purchased from local establishments and many commented on the variety and abundance of food available for all to enjoy. The Students Against Destructive Decisions(sadd) youth treated those preferring a cocktail without the alcohol to one of their mocktail drinks.
Organizatons received laminated certificates through the mail prior to the event thanking each organization and its volunteers. With many groups in attendance, there was a wonderful representation at the gathering. Community Organizer, Trish Wood could not have been happier with the turnout.
“It was an amazing evening and I am extremely grateful to those who helped the Municipality in making it possible,” she said. “Potton is rich in people power and this event gives us the opportunity to say thank you.”
There are many upcoming events in Potton where volunteers will be needed including: the Spartan race, the summer day camp, the annual festival, the children’s garden and many more.
