Sherbrooke Connection goes to the Wales Home in Richmond

-

Sherbrooke Connection is visiting the Wales Home on Thursday, May 10 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Why? Because many years back, many ladies and sometimes men from the Richmond area drove all the way to Sherbrooke to join our events. We’ve missed them and have also been asked to have an event at the Wales Home. Since we no longer meet at the A.N.A.F, this was an opportunity to go to them. Carol Ann Mcelrea (Wales Home Activity Coordinator) was very welcoming and fitted our event into the home’s busy schedule. We are so happy about this collaboration!

So here’s what’s going to be happening! We’re having a potted plant exchange! If you are from the community, please bring 1 or more real or artificial potted plants (in a waterproof pot). Another fun thing going on is the Wales Home’s Silent Auction fundraiser. Piano music will be provided by musician Ann Clark, who is well loved by all. Our inspirational speaker, Chris Bassett from Michigan, USA, will speak about her faith journey that is titled “Growth Occurs in the Valley.” Chris is a cancer survivor and battled depression. She feels that as she travelled through life, she emerged strengthened for whatever lay ahead. The Wales Home is providing delicious refreshments and their favourite and refreshing punch. Remember it’s from 2 to 3:30 p.m. There is no charge for the residents. Men and women from the community pay a $7 entrance fee. Come for the fun, food and fellowship! For more information please contact Pauline Goodenough at 819-563-8061 or email us at sherbrookewc@yahoo.ca. I know that by the end of the morning, you’ll feel inspired and that you’ve invested in time well spent! We are affiliated with RSVP Ministries (rsvpministries.com). We want to Invite, Inspire, and Invest in people’s lives.

The WALES HOME’S address is as follows: 506 Route 243 North Cleveland, Quebec, J0B 2H0 (just outside of Richmond, QC), 819-826-3266.

As you know, it’s been a very slow start to Spring, but it’s getting better! Nadine Fafard co-chaired the last April meeting and cheered us up with some Spring jokes like the frozen dinners that the robins had to eat and the geese deciding to turn around and go back south. Both men and women from the community and the Grace Village residents also enjoyed music from The Late Bloomers. Cathy Neville talked to us about the nitty-gritty of living soil and compost. Here’s one comment about that talk: “Wonderful meeting! The special feature was very informative.” Nadine Fafard also shared her faith story, “Showers of Blessings!” about how going through a flood and other Our door prizes

storms in life were blessings from God! She quoted someone who said: “Life is not fair, but God is faithful!.”

Hope to see you at the next event.
