Ayer’s Cliff health co-op hops on board with Héma-quebec

-

24 of those 35 had already signed up, with five or six drop-in donors having already come by. The clinic was held on a by-appointment basis because of the

limited space available in the mobile donation unit that was brought to the site by Héma-quebec.

Several of the donors on site praised the convenience of the modified bus, noting that they had never been able to make it to donor clinics in neighbouring communities and commenting on how much easier it is to give blood when the clinic is in your own back yard.

According to a Héma-quebec representative on-site, the organization has several mobile clinics based out of Montreal to make it easier to access communities in more remote locations. The modified busses, which can accommodate between four and five donors at a time depending on their configuration, offer an all-in-one solution that skips the necessity of setting up a space with beds, tables, dividers and other equipement.

Although the Ayer’s Cliff blood donor clinic is now over, another clinic is set to take place today in Sherbrooke at the Jean-coutu Pharmacy at 1470 King Street West. Appointments for that clinic can be made by calling 1-800-343-7264. More information about giving blood and about upcoming blood donor clincs is available in English on the Héma-quebec website www.hema-quebec.qc.ca
