Volunteers always wanted - Please join us

We depend on our volunteers; if you can spare some time, and would be interested in joining us, we would be delighted to have you join our team!

We need volunteers in the following areas:

Meals on Wheels drivers

- delivering hot noon hour meals to seniors’ homes,

Abreath of fresh air is blowing over the Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre! Until July 8, 2018, art lovers can discover, in our gallery, the exhibit “Souffle du vent” featuring the works of artists Lucie St-jean and Mary Cartmel, who express themselves which provides social interactio­n and a friendly face. Routes typically consist of 5 to 10 clients. Volunteers are reimbursed for mileage expenses.

– volunteers pick up the clients at their home, help them in and out of the vehicle, accompany them to their banking, medical or legal appointmen­ts, and escort them back

While at Uplands, try the English tea experience on Saturdays and Sundays between 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. (reservatio­n recommende­d). Starting June 26, our small tea, traditiona­l tea and high tea will be served in our gardens; Tuesday home. Clients pay a small fee to the volunteer to cover any expenses incurred (i.e. mileage & parking).

REMINDER

All regular services will continue during the summer season.

Walking group will start mid-may.

Community Aid

will be hosting, in partnershi­p with the Concertati­on Estrienne, contre la maltraitan­ce des personnes aînés (committee against elder abuse) a play entitled “Grandpa is Not a Cash Cow & Grandma Won’t Take Any Bull” performed by “Théatre La Belle Gang.” When: Tuesday, June 5 at 1:30 p.m. Where: Lennoxvill­e United Church, 6 Church Street, Sherbrooke

Cost: $5.00

Tickets will be available at our offices: to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (until September 2).

The Lennoxvill­e-ascot Historical and Museum Society is also presenting a new exhibit on the second floor of Uplands. Titled “Time and Image,” this exhibit which displays intriguing cameras, 164 Queen Street, Suite 104.

antique accessorie­s and local photograph­s will appeal to visitors of all ages. Please note that LAHMS will also be serving cake and ice cream on the Uplands veranda on June 9 for Friendship Day. Delicious!
