Bulwer Golden Age

Eighty seniors, including 1 guest, met on May 29 for an afternoon of games and supper.

Eight tables of 500 were played, as well as 2 tables of Cribbage, 2 teams of carpet bowling and a table of Skip Bo.

Results of cribbage: Keith Vintinner and Richard Coates beat Lynda Coates and Colleen Matthews by 39 points and Gail Macdonald and Doreen Lancaster beat Beulah Turnbull and Fred Williams by 13 points.

Results of 500 were: Ladies:1st place Louise Peasley, 2nd place Claudette Waite and low score Jean Lackie.

Men: 1st place Stan Brown, 2nd place Lionel Statton and low score Roger Boyton.

In carpet bowling, the black team (Jeannie Lackie, Mary Lou Burns and Ken) beat the red team (Pat Decouteau, Doris and Bruce) 16 to 3 and the second game was won by the red team, 7 to 3. James was the skip.

Three members played Skip Bo. The winners were Paulette Painter and Darlene Rogers.

Please note that Beverly Cote was not mentioned for winning at the last afternoon played.

A general meeting was held before supper. The executive all accepted another term.

Everyone assembled for supper, Grace was said by Serena Wintle. Another wonderful meal prepared by Peggy Grapes and helpers, consisting of BBQ chicken, potato salad, marinated carrots, bean salad, orange jellied salad, rolls, tea and coffee. This was all you can eat pie day, being our last get together until fall. Raison, coconut cream, Key lime and pecan pies were served.

Door prizes were won by Madelyn Betts, Stan Brown, Hazel Kerr, Edith Westbroom, Jean Naylor, Helen Taylor and Peggy Grapes.

Peggy’s goodies were won by a person at each table who had the number 8 on their placemat. Winners were: Gail Bowen, Kerwin, Helen Cox, Gary Dunsmore, Roger, Darlene Rogers and Yvonne Wilkens.

This was our last get together until fall, have a great summer everyone.
