Cadets supporting Moisson Estrie

- Submitted by Marc Nadeau President of the 2721 Army Cadets Support Committee

Last Saturday, cadets from the Army Cadets Corps 2721 (Sherbrooke Fusiliers) raised more than 3000$ for the “lunch bags” project of Moisson Estrie through a spaghetti dinner which was held at the Sherbrooke Armoury. The honorary president of the event was Lieutenant-colonel Alexandre Grégoire, commander of the Sherbrooke Fusiliers.

In his thoughtful remarks, Lcol Grégoire mentioned that “close to 40% of requests to foodbanks are for children. Those kids are powerless, when confronted with money issues and the absence of assistance. In Sherbrooke, throughout the year or when the going gets tough, we can count on Moisson Estrie to support hundreds of families having access to the basics of life and what is necessary for the development of a healthy society. […]. The cause of feeding our children is directly linked to my personal and professional values [Mr. Grégoire is a primary school teacher]. Congratulations to the cadets for helping Moisson Estrie to raise the money which will make a difference for the youth of our community. They’re our future!”

Along the way, Lcol Grégoire also stressed that the investment of time and resources on his part contributes to support the values articulated in Canada’s new Defence Policy, because he highlights that, doing so, we are helping to form the next generation of good citizens who will, on their part, contribute to make our world a better and safer place.
