Schedule of water games
The water games at Horan Park (275 Bowen Street) and Hautes-sources (479, 18th Avenue) will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the summer period. An interactive map of parks in the city can be viewed at.magog.qc.ca/parcs.
Beaches and water protected by birds of prey
For the fifth year, the City of Magog is using a scaring technique incorporating trained birds of prey to keep waterfowl away. The excrement of the latter contributes to the deterioration of rivers and beaches, as well as helping to spread dermatitis among bathers. It is requested not to disturb the work of falconers.
Blue Flag Beach Certification Again this year, thanks to the various actions taken by the City, the Blue Flag will fly in Magog, confirming that the City’s beaches continue to meet the requirements of this international certification.
The Blue Flag is an eco-label awarded annually to beaches that meet 33 stringent requirements in the following four categories:
Environmental education and information;
Water quality; Environmental site management; Security and services offered.
The purpose of the certification is to raise awareness and motivate local communities, visitors, and managers to become more respectful of the environment and contribute to the sustainable development of their beaches. The certification must be renewed every year and audits are conducted by Environmental Defense to verify that requirements are met.
