Tel-aide begins Montérégie service

- Record Staff

Tel-aide has announced the opening of its telephone help service throughout the territory of Montérégie. The service will begin operation at 8 a.m. June 11, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The service is available by calling 1-888-600-2433, toll-free.

Through its confidential telephone service, Tel-aide works to reduce situations of loneliness, alcohol or drug consumption, violence, mental health issues, relationship conflicts, etc. To carry out its work, Tel-aide engages 250 professionally trained and supervised volunteers to respond to callers day and night.

Thanks to the purchase of new communication technologies at reasonable costs and the financial contribution of several government departments, including health and social services, that it is now possible to serve the extensive region.

In addition, next fall, a new chat service called "Chatt-écoute" will come online to reach those who prefer to express themselves through messaging rather than talking.

Making a difference

By participating in the first edition of the organization’s Great Raffle, the public can help promote the listening service in schools, among families, businesses, and community and health networks. Companies will be contacted to contribute directly to the well-being of the population by purchasing tickets for a draw, which will take place October 31, at the J.C. Perreault Furniture Store, 2049, F.-X. Sabourin in Longueuil. Tickets are $100 each for a chance to win the first prize, a 14-day Mediterranean cruise valued at $12,000, or a second prize of an $8,000 credit at Meubles J.C Perreault, in Longueuil.
