Cégep de Sherbrooke to offer cyber-security course this winter
The Cégep de Sherbrooke has announced the creation of a new program in cyber-security and Integrated Security to its continuing education offerings. The program, leading to an Attestation of Collegial Studies (ACS), meets the growing needs of companies that must operate increasingly sophisticated security systems.
The 44-week program will be offered in the winter of 2019 and offered on a full-time, part-time, or modular basis for those with specific training needs. The training will invite students to learn practically through internships and is intended for both current security guards who would like to upgrade their knowledge and anyone who wants to work in cyber-security and industrial security.
Director of Studies Éric Gagné, said that the institution is the first to offer such specialized training in this area. "This program is innovative because it addresses all aspects of integrated security. With this training, companies will be able to optimize the management of their security system to meet the new technological challenges inherent to this sector. Relevance studies have confirmed the obvious need for this type of training here in the region and we have not hesitated to move forward to implement this new program. "
The college announced the new program at Magog Technopole because it benefited from an excellent collaboration from this organization to finance and develop the program. "Today's announcement is the result of an ambitious project conducted over the last three years and highlights the expertise developed within our security industry,” said Magog Technopole D-G André Métras. ”Security systems technologies are evolving and becoming more complex. Employees therefore have to develop new skills to operate effectively. Magog Technopole will also put its premises, at the cutting edge of digital technology, available to the Cégep for some courses."
