Another recyclables collection postponed
The City of Sherbrooke has been forced to postpone another collection of recyclable materials. This time, collection scheduled for Monday, June 18 has been postponed to Friday, June 22.
The recyclables collections scheduled for Monday, June 11 and Tuesday, June 12 were also postponed to Friday, June 15 and Saturday, June 16, respectively.
Citizens affected by these changes are asked to place their recyclables bin at the curb before 8 a.m. on the new pickup day.
Changes to the schedule so far include:
- The collection scheduled for Monday, June 11 -> postponed to Friday, June 15.
- the· Collection planned for Tuesday, June 12 -> postponed to Saturday, June 16.
- the Collection scheduled for Monday, June 18 -> postponed to Friday, June 22.
Unless otherwise stated, recyclables collections scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will follow the regular schedule.
These temporary changes to the schedule are because of a reorganization of the activities at the Sort Estrie sorting center, which is responsible for sorting and repackaging recyclables. In order to unclog the sorting center, recyclable materials will be sent to Valoris for baling and transported to a building for storage by Récup Estrie. The recyclable materials will then be sorted as soon as possible.
The changes do not affect the pick-up schedule for garbage and compostable materials.
Residents with an excess of recyclables are asked to store them until their bin can be emptied. Above all, do not put these recyclables in the garbage bin.
The City of Sherbrooke is hopeful that it will be able to return to the regular schedule.
