Health Agency inaugurates new spaces at Farnham nursing home
The CIUSSS de l’estrie - CHUS and the Les Foyers Farnham Foundation inaugurated new spaces at the Centre d’hébergement de Farnham. Residents will now benefit from an expanded living environment that is better adapted to their needs and that promotes their well-being and quality of life.
The renovations took place between June 2017 and May 2018. The Farnham Ambulance Service was a major partner in the project.
"The Les Foyers Farnham Foundation members are pleased to have contributed to this major project as it makes a significant difference for seniors in our community," said Marc Longpré, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
"Everything has been designed to promote the quality of life of residents in this project," said Jacques Fortier, chairman of the board of CIUSSS Estrie CHUS.
A large dining room with several windows and views of the garden was an integral part of the expansion on the ground floor. Among the improvements are a new nursing station that provides privacy, the relocation of the hair salon, the addition of a shower room and a family lounge.
A covered outdoor walkway between the Centre d’hébergement Farnham and the Gérard-harbec home allows residents of both centers to travel sheltered from the weather for their leisure activities and socialization. Large outdoor common gardens with concrete paths, benches and swings have also been set up between the two facilities.
The kitchen located in the basement has been considerably enlarged and refurbished, in addition to being equipped with new appliances. This new configuration of food service work areas optimizes meal preparation.
