Just a few more sleeps, Brome County peeps
If you haven’t done so already, the Brome County Museum urges you to take out a big red marker and circle a very important upcoming date on your calendar – July 16th .
On Monday next, the BCHS will release our 2018 catalogue of museum artifacts that are up for grabs in this year’s popular “Adopt an Artifact” program. Aiming to raise both awareness about the museum’s vast and varied collections and the funds essential to helping with their conservation and care, the BCHS staff have carefully chosen a selection of beloved and lesserknown artifacts that will be available for adoption for a full year.
While a number of artifacts have already been spoken for, a privilege that was reserved for anyone who adopted an artifact last year, there are plenty of interesting and unusual items available at a number of adoption levels. With fees starting at just $125, anyone can participate in this fun and fabulous initiative which cultivates pride in our history and generates interest in our unique heritage.
Adopters receive a tax receipt for the full adoption fee, a certificate of adoption, and a photo and description of their chosen artifact. What’s more, their name will be displayed in the museum on a special plaque alongside the artifact for a year. Anyone who adopts an artifact at the $1,000 level or higher, additionally, receives a pair of free tickets to our “Night at the Museum” gala, the highlight of our “Adopt an Artifact” program, which takes place on August 11th.
