Orford Music welcomes Montreal Guitar Trio to its World Music Series
The Orford Music Festival is welcoming the Montreal Guitar Trio (MG3) at the Salle Gilles Lefebvre on Saturday, August 4 at 8 pm. The ensemble, composed of guitarists Sébastien Dufour, Glenn Lévesque and Marc Morin, offers a concert full of Hispanic sounds.
"I am pleased to welcome for the first time the MG3 group, who will present our audience with pieces of famous Spanish composers,” said Orford Music’s artistic and general director Wonny Song. “On this exciting evening, the three guitarists will be accompanied by flamenco dancer Yosi Karahashi, who shines in her art and represents the perfect example of Japanese excellence that I wanted to put forward at the Festival this summer.”
The program will consist of several pieces from the group’s album, Danzas including La Vida Breve by Manuel de Falla, Canción de Amor by Paco de Lucía and La Catedral by Agustín Barrios Mangoré

Regarded by the CBC as "Canada's Most Sensational Guitar ensemble", MG3 has quickly established itself as a leader in the renewal and interplay of various musical forms. For almost 20 years, virtuosity, rigor, inventiveness, and the breathtaking stage presence where humor and interaction with the audience intermingle - have won over crowds around the world. The trio has performed hundreds of concerts throughout North America, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia, and in the most prestigious venues, including in Amsterdam, Copenhagen and in New York.. Over the years, MG3 has multiplied collaborated and shared the stage with ensembles and renowned artists such as the Quebec Symphony Orchestra, Jorane, Solorazaf, and the California Guitar Trio. The group also won the Opus Prize for Concert of the Year in in 2011 for the Concert of the Year - jazz and world music and has recorded seven critically acclaimed albums.
Yosi Karahasi
Japanese Yosi Karahashi traveled to Spain to realize her dream of studying flamenco. She finally ended up staying 16 years in Madrid to study at the legendary flamenco school, Amor de Dios. She has appeared as a member in many flamenco companies and has also been a soloist in several festivals in Spain, Japan, Morocco, Portugal, France, Cyprus, Canada, and the United States . She is also the founder of Flamenco Therapy, an organization dedicated to bringing flamenco to those who need it most.
