The Conseil de la Culture de l’estrie is kicking off the political debate schedule in the Eastern Townships with an event focused on arts and culture in the Eastern Townships and across the province. Set to take place on September 5 at 7 p.m. at Sherbrooke’s Jeanbesré performing arts centre, the debate will bring together candidates from Quebec’s four main political parties to hear their views on the future of the arts in the context of the provincial election.

The candidates who are participating are André Bachand, representing the Coalition Avenir Quebec in the Richmond riding; Luc Fortin, representing the Quebec Liberal Party in Sherbrooke; Christine Labrie, representing Quebec Solidaire in Sherbrooke; and Véronique Vignault, the Parti québécois representative for Richmond.

Although people are welcome to come see the debate take place, the Conseil de la culture is also currently taking suggestions regarding the questions to be asked of the candidates. Anyone with a question or questions for the candidates relating to the world of arts and culture is invited to send it to Hélène Blais either by email at info@cultureestrie.org or by phone: 819 563-2744, extension 227.
