Sherbrooke churches to ring out their appeal
Since its official creation last March, the Archdiocese of Sherbrooke’s bell tower team has been working hard on preparing guided tours of several local churches for a special event on October 13 and 14. Seven sanctuaries the region have been specially selected to host visitors who will be able to enjoy the activities offered.
This year, the seven highlighted churches are Sherbrooke’ Immaculée-conception, St. Georges in St. Georges de Windsor, North Hatley’s Ste. Elisabeth ,Saints-anges in Ham North. Saint-louis-de-france in East Angus, St. Zénon in Piopolis, and Sainte-cécile in Sainte-cécile de Whitton.
To highlight the architecture and unique pieces found in the churches of the Archdiocese of Sherbrooke, one-minute videos are available through the Facebook page of the event and broadcast via Facebook from August 22 at www.facebook.com/baladeclochers/
A one-minute clip, featuring images of all the featured churches, will be shown on the big screen thanks to the collaboration with the Maison du Cinéma. From the end of August until the end of September, moviegoers will be able to observe the splendours of the archdiocese.
Each selected church has a detailed description highlighting its main attractions on the website of the Archdiocese of Sherbrooke. The complete program for each is available online and in brochures, which will be distributed by Tourisme-cantons-de-l'est in the Montréal, Québec City, Rigaud, Dégelis, and Rivièrebeaudette offices.
In addition, those wishing to support the event will have the opportunity to purchase an Archdiocese of Sherbrooke pin at a cost of $10. The pin will be available at the Archbishop's office at 130, rue de la Cathédrale, in Sherbrooke.
