4 tips to set your kids up for back-to-school success

-

(NC) Returning to classes can be tough. After a seemingly endless summer, suddenly your kids must wake up early, get acquainted with new friends and teachers, and do homework. As we approach the opening school bell, here are four quick tips to make your child’s return to school a ringing success:

Reinstate bedtime.

With the school year inching closer, the sooner you can adjust your little ones to their coming schedules, the better. To ease the transition, start their bedtime routine about 10 minutes earlier each night and wake them up 10 minutes earlier every day until they’re back on track.

Create a space. quiet study

Children learn best in an environment that’s wellorganized and uncluttered. Rather than set up shop at the kitchen table, make sure they have their own desk for homework. Like you would for a spouse, also try and keep the noise down while they work and be available to help.

Kids who suffer from allergies or asthma have it twice as bad during back to school because it happens to coincide with fall allergy season. If your child suffers from asthma or allergies, make sure to invest in a connected air purifier. Your best bet is the Philips Air Purifier Series 2000i, which captures 99.97 per cent of particles that pass through the filter and is proven to reduce allergens, odours, VOCS and even certain bacteria.

Back to school is a transition for parents as well. Perhaps you’re anxious about your child starting school for the first time, or maybe you also must go back to work after a long break. Regardless, kids feed off your energy. Set a positive tone by being enthusiastic about school, and talk with your children about the new things they’re going to learn and friends they will meet.

Help them concentrate. Stay positive.
