Sherbrooke extends pool hours until Labour Day

- Record Staff

Due to the hot weather predicted for the next few days, the City of Sherbrooke has decided to extend the opening hours of the Saintalphonse-de-liguori Park swimming pool until Labour Day.

The outdoor pool will remain open every day from 12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Lucien-blanchard Park beach will also be monitored until that date, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. unless precipitation leads to a preventive closure. At any time, the public can find out if the beach is open or closed by visiting the sherbrooke.ca/plages website.

Originally, the Saint-alphonse-deliguori pool was to be opened until last Sunday and only the two municipal beaches were to remain open until September 3. The Municipal Park beach in Deauville, however, had to be closed Monday due to the temporary presence of blue-green algae. This beach will remain closed for the rest of the summer.

The City of Sherbrooke wants to maximize the opportunities for the public to enjoy bathing areas in the coming days. It has therefore chosen to extend the opening of the Saint-alphonse-de-liguori swimming pool, which is located at the intersection of Argyll and Vermont streets and was renovated two years ago and has adequate lighting.

Work is currently underway in the park adjacent to the pool and to access the latter, citizens are asked to avoid Vermont Street and instead must use the entrance on the Beckett Street side.
