- Record Staff

The Sherbrooke Expos will begin the playoffs this Friday at 8 p.m. when they host the Shawinigan Cascades Go Sport at the Amédée-roy stadium.

The two teams will compete in a twoout-of-three qualifying series for the right to face the B45 Division champions of the Major League Baseball League, the Thetford Mines Blue Sox in the quarterfinal round.

The official schedule for the series is: - Friday at 8 p.m. at the Amédée-roy stadium

- Saturday at 7 p.m. in Shawinigan. - Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Amédée-roy stadium (if necessary).

In case of rain, the games will be delayed a day. The schedule is also available on the team's Facebook page and the LBMQ website at www.lbmq.ca.

For this series, Expos manager François Lécuyer, isn’t taking his opponents lightly. He is, however, optimistic when he talks about his team’s chances for the playoffs.

"We will have a full roster for the playoffs,” he said. “Our batting line-up will be impressive and everyone will be well rested and especially motivated to surprise many people.”

Lécuyer plans to send Ismaël Penachénier, Michel Goudreau, and Claudio Ortiz to the mound for the series and said, "I hope baseball fans in the region will be there in great numbers to cheer us on in the playoffs. We are aware that there are several activities happening at the same time throughout the region, but nothing can beat a good baseball series."

Games will be general admission for all during the playoffs and spectators are encouraged to arrive early to avoid lineups at the box office and the gate. Season tickets will no longer be valid. Admission is always free for children under 13 years old.
