Culture Days

-

said 300 high schools across the province will generate memes that will be shared on social media with the hashtag #jaimelesmots.

Sicuro said that in addition to Culture Days, the there is a spinoff pilot project in the works to keep art and culture in the forefront in schools through special projects.

With Culture Days coinciding with the upcoming election, Sicuro said there is no better time to highlight the importance of supporting culture in Quebec in all its forms.

“It’s open to everyone,” Sicuro said, explaining that initiatives of all types, in English or in French, are welcome.

Sicuro said that towns, teachers, artists or community groups that are interested still have time to get involved.

The guidelines are listed on the Culture Days website (www.journeesdelaculture.qc.ca)

“It’s voluntary, you use your own resources,” Sicuro said, adding that the project is meant to encourage the public to interact with local artists and cultural organizations through activities of all kinds.

While this is the 22nd year of Journées de la culture in Quebec, Sicuro said for the past nine years, the rest of Canada has jumped on board, hosting Culture Days across the whole country in conjunction with the grassroots Quebec movement
