Thanks to its reputation and its leadership in the wine and agri-food industry, the Magog-orford Harvest Festival (Fête des Vendanges) has become the go-to festival to explore and enjoy Quebec wines.

With more than 150 exhibitors and 300 regional products, it is the largest gourmet-style festival in Quebec.

This year’s theme is 25 years of local flavors. Presented by the SAQ, the event will take place at the Pointe Merry of Magog. The 25th edition will be held on the first two weekends of September, from Sept. 1, 2, 3, 8 and 9.

To celebrate the milestone anniversary, bubbles will be in the spotlight.

The goal of the festival is to draw attention to Quebec wines, an industry that dates back several decades in the province. Since the 1980s, certain areas favorable to growing grapes have seen a dramatic increase in wine growers, including the Eastern Townships.

Despite the harsh climate of Quebec, winemakers were able to choose grapes adapted to the cold of our winters to develop several types of products ranging from still wines to fortified wines, and also sparkling wines.

Today, between 400 and 500 different wines and cider spirits are produced each year. The Magog-orford Harvest Festival has a mission of highlighting local producers and wines that are still often unknown, all in a colourful party atmosphere.
