Bulwer Golden Age

-

On September 4, 60 members and guests gathered at the Bulwer Community Center to begin a new season. During the afternoon, seven tables of 500 were played, a table of cribbage, a table of Skip Bo and 2 teams of carpet bowling.

Keith congratulated everyone who had birthdays and anniversaries in September and welcomed our guests Rejean and Audrey. Keith also wants everyone to bring suggestions for activities they would like for this year.

Everyone assembled for supper. Grace was said by Ben Hodge. Another wonderful meal prepared by Peggy Grapes and helpers, consisting of roast pork and gravy, potatoes, peas, carrots, pickles, coleslaw applesauce and rolls. For desert, blueberry cheesecake was served. Peggy certainly never lets us down.

Results of cribbage were: Keith and Grace beat Richard and Lynda by 141 points.

Results of 500 were: Ladies - 1st place Pat Decoteau with 4860, 2nd place Isabel Nelson with 4000 and low score Jean Lackie with 1740. Men 1st place Clyne Macdonald with 4060, 2nd place George Peasley with 3480 and low score with Clayton Lackey with 3300.

Results of Skip Bo were: Mary Simms with two games and Paulette Painter with one.

Results of carpet bowling were: Black team (Lise, Jean and Doris) beat Red team (Carlene, James and Reg) by 2 points and the second game Red beat Black by 2 points.

Door prizes were won by Fred Williams, Margaret Vintinner, Blair Donnachie, Jean Naylor, John Gill and Grace Betts.

Peggy’s goodies were won by Evelyn Suitor, Isabel Nelson, Craig Tostello and Bob Halsall.

Thank you to everyone who helped set up and clean up, it is always much appreciated.
