Cowansville Oktoberfest public market celebrates the end of the season, Oct. 4
The 2018 Cowansville Public Market season finale traditionally celebrates the arrival of autumn as an Oktoberfest. On Thursday, Oct. 4 from 3 to 7 p.m. the market will set up in its place of origin, the recently renovated downtown square park facing the shopping center.
Oktoberfest is a traditional festival of German origin. It is an opportunity to enjoy sauerkraut a beer in a musical atmosphere.
As he does every year, Patrick, of the Carrément BON restaurant will be in the kitchen to prepare the sauerkraut. Vegetables will come from the vegetable garden and meats will be prepared by students from the Brome-missisquoi Campus Boucherie School.
In the Biergarten, beers from the Brasserie Farnham and the fruit juices from the Paradis des Fruits will be available.
The Fest will also feature music from Caro and John who were extremely wellreceived at last year’s market where they stirred people to dance on street. Caro, a development officer at l'éveil, a mental health support organization, already has a good fan club at the market, which is operated by about a dozen L’éveil workshops.
About 15 farmers will be on hand with their local products, joined by some artisans, who will offer tasty food products grown and prepared with love and passion by local companies with an ecological twist.
The market is also designed for the little ones as a popular space has been reserved for them with an educational program based on games. Volunteers will entertain the children while their parents take full advantage of the market.
Les Amies de la Terre de Brome-missisquoi has been coordinating the public market since 2016 in cohesion with its Cowansville Regional Solidarity Market (MSRC). Once the public market season is over, it continues its activities on John St. year-round. The same producers are present, as are nearly 70 others. The social economy enterprise aims to promote local purchasing and access to healthy, quality, and ecological products while supporting local producers and processors.
