Afternoon Christmas Tea

-

The weather was excellent. The tea was hot. An enthusiastic crowd gathered at St. Anne’s Church Hall, Richmond, on Saturday, November 24, to enjoy the activities going on there. Folks were eager for the food sales to start. Bags were being filled as shoppers checked out the bazaar tables. Bids were abundant on the articles offered at the Silent Auction. Following grace by Father Giuseppe Gagliano everyone settled to enjoy the dainty sandwiches and delicious sweets being placed on the party tables. Conversation flowed abundantly as the young servers went about replenishing the plates of food. Cups were refilled frequently.

Towards the close of the afternoon, Father Giuseppe caught everyone’s attention as he drew out the winning numbers of the nine door prize winners. Those were Clifford Lancaster, Patrick

Richmond Legion, Branch #15, Ladies Auxiliary hold Military Whist

On November 22 we had 15 tables to play Military Whist. After Sherley welcomed everyone and had a few announcements play was started. Lunched was served at the end of the games and prizes were awarded.

There were two winning teams with 26 flags. 1st - Robin Converse, Shirley Mitchell, Gordon Irwin, Carmen Keezer, Norma Husk, Alice Mills, Gloria Raymond, Helen Gallup and Jocelyn Lancaster. Four articles had been set aside for a small raffle and those winners were Carmen Keezer, Nicolas Mccourt, Sharon Moore and Jean Storry. Shortly thereafter, the Silent Auction officially closed and people eagerly checked if they had been the highest bidder on their chosen article and rushed to pay for it before leaving.

As usual, no event could be successfully held without those that generously supplied the food, workers so diligent in the kitchen, the efficient servers, those that manned the various tables throughout the Hall and especially those that came to shop and enjoy. Thank you. Merry Christmas, one and all. Submitted by
