Sawyerville Community Garden

-

The Sawyerville Community Garden is a not-for-profit organisation that has been in operation for the past six years. Over this period of time the community garden has grown to include multiple pieces of equipment and has become a gathering point for multiple activities within its community.

Some of the resources available at the garden, such as the ancestral wood-oven, takes inspiration from technologies of yester-year. The clay oven is used every Saturday to make pizzas which are sold during the Sawyerville Villagers Market (farmer’s market).

The newest addition to the community garden is a covered platform where the organisation hosts its Mercre-dîner. The Mercre-dîner is essentially a weekly lunch offered on Wednesdays, during the summer, made from local produce and produce that comes directly from the community garden itself. All the proceeds from this lunch help fund the organisation. This structure is also used during the farmer’s market, where producers can set up their market stands.

All of the community garden’s infrastructure is available to the community, the covered platform and wood-oven can be rented for 50$ for the day. For more details email us at jcsawyerville@hotmail.com.

Every year they organise this even t where people can exchange ideas, tips and tricks and learn about new subjects all in the theme of gardening and the environment. All proceeds generated by the event will be used to support the activities of the community garden.

Not only that, there will be 12 conferences held all throughout the day. These conferences will be on topics ranging from pollinators, to super-foods, to living soils, wild mushrooms and nuts, to regenerative agriculture and much more.
