Eastern Townships School Board – Back to school for the 2019-2020 school year

-

Thursday, Aug. 29 is the first day back to school for students in the elementary and secondary levels at the Eastern Townships School Board. Personnel in schools and centres will be greeting over 5,400 students at the elementary and secondary level, in addition to over 1,370 in the adult education and vocational training sectors. The Eastern Townships School Board (ETSB) is pleased to announce that this represents an increase in its student population for the sixth year in a row.

New Programs

The ETSB will have eight 4-year old kindergartens across its territory for the 2019-2020 school year. As well the extra 20 minutes of recess, as mandated by the Ministry will be implemented across our school board including our three secondary schools.

An Environment that Fosters Student Success

In keeping with its commitment to provide a welcoming environment, the ETSB will invest over $12 million in its infrastructure for the 2019-2020 school year. In addition to this extensive infrastructure budget, we will be embarking on an exciting project for a new elementary school for the Drummondville area. In June the ETSB received confirmation of $13.2 million in additional funding for the new school. Adult Education & Vocational Training: Reaching your goals

Our four Adult Education and Vocational Training Centres and our Distance Education will help our adult students (as of 16 years of age) throughout the year to achieve their goals. Be it finishing high school, getting a certificate, or changing careers and taking on a new challenge, the personnel in our centres are professionals trained and dedicated to guiding our adult students so that they can reach their potential.

Be a Part of the International Students Program, experience the journey of a lifetime

The successful International Student Program will be welcoming close to 65 students from across the globe into schools and communities this year. Many will become part of a new family in the homestay program, providing a unique and up-close cultural exchange.

The Eastern Townships School Board provides educational services for students in the Estrie and Montérégie areas with 20 elementary schools, three high schools, two adult education centres, two vocational training centres, a distance education and an international student program. We offer students the advantage of studying in a bilingual environment, led by caring adults and supported with a comprehensive technology initiative that is student focused.
