-

With harvest season is in full swing, the Locavore Market is inviting the public to the 6th edition of Festiv'ail, happening on Saturday, Aug. 31.

The Festiv'ail will offer everything garlic lovers and those interested in learning more about the aromatic vegetable from the onion family.

The event is the most popular of the summer season for the Locavore Market and has become a favoured tradition for locals and visitors.

Festiv'ail provides a unique opportunity for consumers to discover the different varieties of garlic grown in Quebec. There are at least a dozen, including music, a very resistant variety that keeps very well, the Rocambole with a slightly full-bodied taste, the favorite of the competitions, the artichoke that comes from Italy with pungent taste and the famous purple stripe for its medicinal properties thanks to its high allicin content. The porcelain variety has an intense and striking flavor with high allicin levels, best consumed raw because it loses its properties while cooking. Pink garlic from the creole group has a rich flavor, and the violet stripe marble garlic from Siberia, whose pods are particularly big and tasty, are a musttry for garlic lovers.

The 2019 edition of the festiv'ail, will bring together more than10 producers, offering the public a unique opportunity to learn more about the culture of garlic, its properties, ways to prepare it.
