Knowlton Film Festival
DEAR EDITOR:
Benjamin Franklin said that “an investment in knowledge pays the best interest” for which I concur. I learned so much and paid so little to be entertained and educated from Friday to Sunday. I learned about Rudolf Nureyev’s defection from the Soviet Union with my two young grand boys, who were attentive almost to the end. I revisited Claire Leger’s most magnificent garden. We laughed at animated cars singing to Que Sera until the message became clear that the future of gas guzzling “is not ours to see”, such a legacy we leave behind. I loved the family dynamics of La Femme du Mon Frère and now understand the heartrending of Casablanca having never seen it before. The Festival Cinéma de Knowlton had most of us squirming in our seats whispering halleluiah with Aretha Franklin, anguishing about the state of farming in Quebec and horrified by Steve Bannon. That is just a brief survey of the movies I saw, but my mind has many winter days to remember the wonders it saw on the big screen in Knowlton. Thank you to all the organizers.

Under the Grandstand, for 23 years, the District of Bedford Masonic Association has rented an information booth. It has been a way to get men in the area to get to know about the seven different Lodges within this district in the Eastern Townships.
Freemasons give a lot to local organizations. They meet regularly throughout the year.
If you are interested in Freemasonry, and wish to obtain any information on this Fraternity, go visit the representatives at the booth. The booth will be manned from fair’s opening on Friday until Monday evening.
The photo should remind anyone who has gone under the Grandstand as to where their booth is located. In the photo, RWB Xavier Gullard (District Deputy Grand Master for the District of Bedford) is on the left and RWB Russ Blinco Jr. (Past DDGM) is on the right.
