Why an Optimist Club in Sutton?

-

ASubmitted by Ilze Epners

s many of you have seen flyers and information meeting announcements, I am sure you are aware that we are in the process of rebuilding the Sutton Optimist Club.

The Sutton club closed a few years ago because the members were tired and could not find the support that they needed. They were a fabulous club that did wonderful activities for the community and the kids of Sutton. For a few years now the Sutton kids have missed out of activities that they loved to participate in.

Recently the Optimist Clubs in Bromont and Cowansville have restarted and are having a great time with the local schools. Both Clubs have organized “Opti-génies” (like reach for the top only in French and at the primary school level.) They both organized the annual Youth appreciation dinners. Kids were challenged with the annual writing contests in all schools. The Sutton kids are missing all these, and many other activities. It is time to restart the Sutton club.

What is an Optimist Club? We are a group of community members that offer the youth of our community various stimulating and fun programs. As a member, you will have a chance to engage in leadership, fellowship, training, social events and a discover a sense of belonging. The community also benefits as clubs can organize events to meet the needs in your area for local schools, parks and hospitals making the future brighter for our kids.

Parents, grandparents, new residents, retired educators, newly retired individuals… folks who want to give back to this wonderful community - this is for you! Come to meet us at the next information meeting on August 27, 2019, at 7:30 at Sutton City Hall. Come and bring a friend. If you have any more questions call: 450243-0720.

See you there!
