The 24th edition of Quebec Equestrian Games
Estrie region seeks Championship title
As part of Caballista, organized by Cheval Québec, the The 24th edition of the Quebec Equestrian Games will be held from September 27 to 29, 2019 at the Complexe équestre Bécancour in Bécancour, Qc near Trois-rivières.
Nine delegations and nearly 350 riders are expected to compete for the title of regional champion, as well as gold, silver and bronze medals in individual and team disciplines.
The participants are from the Sudouest, Québec-chaudière-appalaches, Saguenay-lac-st-jean, Laval-lanaudièrelaurentides, Abitibi-témiscamingue, Estdu-québec, Rive-sud, Centre du Québec and Estrie regions.
An important event in equestrian sport, the Quebec Equestrian Games brings together five disciplines: Hunting, Combined Events, Horseback Riding, Dressage, and Show Jumping. The riders were selected following their performances during the 2019 season on the regional circuit, to compete as a team, in order to win the title of champion by discipline and all disciplines combined.
Since the creation of this end-of-season championship, the South Shore delegation has asserted its domination by winning 17 titles in 23 years. However, the other teams, particularly those from Laval-lanaudière-laurentides and Estrie, have already demonstrated their expertise by winning the coveted Champion Trophy.
The Estrie team of 61 riders led by Claudia Lyne Cuerrier and Diane Fortin, vice-champion in 2018, intend to take first place on the podium. She will be defending her previous gold medal in dressage and her silver medal in show jumping.
