In September we said goodbye and welcomed in Autumn with activities celebrating everything that the season has to offer! Many residents enjoyed our yearly outing to Le Gros Pierre Apple Orchard where we enjoyed a wagon ride (on their new wheelchair accessible wagon, which made it possible for many to participate who had not been able in the past), apple picking with a beautiful view, and delicious apple pie. On the Fall-apple theme, we also celebrated Apple Dumpling Day with some apple trivia and amazing dumplings made for us by the Grace Village kitchen. We also made our own Mulled Apple Cider to warm our hearts on a rainy fall day. This month was our third annual Grace Village Care Foundation Gold Tournament where $38,511 was raised towards making a difference right here at Grace Village! Many residents ventured out to the Huntingville Block party where they were able to listen to great music, meet some neighbors, and watch the local children play at the bouncy castle, parachute, street hockey and more! It was a great reminder what a wonderful community Huntingville is. At the end of the month we had our own Oktoberfest celebration where we enjoyed pretzels, sausage, beer and fun themed games. We finished off with a delicious meal at the first Seniors Luncheon at Hope Community Church of the year! September was a busy month filled with many fun activities and entertainment and we were happy to get to spend the time together! October is a wonderful month where the warmth and fellowship of Thanksgiving meet the joy and excitement of Halloween. In between, we will be busy with games, crafts, and gatherings of all kind! Our annual Family Pancake Breakfast will take place on October 11th, and we will invite children from the community for trick-or-treating on the 31st! We will also happily welcome back the BCS students for the BCS Bridges Program every second Thursday. For outings this month, we will be doing a scenic drive around the local area to observe all the beautiful colours so unique to the Townships in October, and we will be having a lunch outing to Sebby’s Pub & Grill in Lennoxville. Some other notable things to look forward to include Special Music from Jim n’ I at the Birthday Bash, National Chocolate Day fondue, and a return of the old favourite – Tabletop Badminton Balloon Bowling. The second year Champlain nursing students will continue to be on site, and we will welcome the first-year class of future nurses, as well as a few fieldtrips from Special Care Counseling students from Champlain as well. Make sure to pay attention to the calendar for all the other activities and events going on throughout the month. No doubt that October will be another busy, fulfilling, and fun month!
