More financial support for Estrie region community organizations
Community health and social services organizations in the Estrie region will benefit from a historic increase in funding. Health and Social Services Minister Danielle Mccann made the announcement yesterday.
As of 2019-2020, the Estrie region's community organizations will receive nearly $2.2 million in recurring financial assistance, in addition to the nearly $32.8 million already allocated under the Community Organization Support Program (PSOC).
Based on the regional guidelines of the PSOC, the increase will make it possible to respond to the needs identified regionally, by increasing the capacity of organizations to respond to growing demands and specific challenges.
For 2019-2020, a total increase of $35 million will support the overall mission of community organizations working in health and social services.

Project to expand the CHUS research
centre gets the green light During her visit to Sherbrooke yesterday, Minister Mccann also announced the start of work to expand the CHUS research centre located at Hôpital Fleurimont, a facility of the CIUSSS de l'estrie – CHUS. The expansion will allow for the installation of a positron emission tomography (PET) scanner and a CT scanner (CT scanner).
The project, funded by the Ministère de l'économie et de l'innovation (MÉI) for nearly $4 million, also received $1 million in support from the Fondation du Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS). It will eventually meet urgent and growing needs for research projects requiring PET/CT, particularly to improve the prediction of clinical outcomes of type 2 diabetes using molecular imaging.
