November is great soup weather
Champlain and Bishop’s getting ready for seventh Empty Bowls fundraiser
Champlain College Lennoxville and Bishop’s University have joined forces to organize the seventh Empty Bowls fundraiser, to be held at the Hope Community Church on Nov. 9, 2019.
Dating back to the 1990s the Empty Bowls international project has been adopted by many communities to fight hunger in their very own neighborhood. This event invites community members to share a bowl of soup in support of those in need.
Several hundred beautiful handcrafted bowls have been made by local potters. Each bowl is hand painted and unique. Some of the bowls have been decorated by well-known artists and local dignitaries. Delicious homemade soups will be prepared by local chef Billy Lidstone Traiteur Lidstone Catering. Bread has been donated by Les Vraies Richesses. Local musicians Jonathan Macauley and Jason Drew will also be performing at the event.
Visitors can choose from among the hundreds of bowls, full it with soup, grab a homemade bun and enjoy. You then take the bowl home as a reminder that your contribution has gone directly into your community. All the money raised will go to Lennoxville Elementary School Breakfast Program, LDWC Food Bank, The Cornerstone Food Bank and the BU/CRC Pastoral Fund.
Soup is truly food for the soul, so help feed another soul and enjoy an autumn afternoon in Lennoxville on November 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hope Church, 102 Queen Street. Tickets are available at the door for $25.00 each, or at Clark and Sons or call 819-564-3666 ext 119.
