Two new exhibits at the Beaulne Museum
Coaticook’s Beaulne Museum is pleased to present two new exhibitions, “En mouvement à travers mon univers” by artist Carole Desgagné and “Imagine” by artist R. Guy Pilon, both of which will be presented from March 15th to April 26th, 2020. A public grand opening for both exhibitions will take place on Sunday March 15th at 2 p.m.
Carole Desgagné always seeks to grow through her art. Her reflections led her to work with concrete because of its tendency to last. Her new sculptures are a marriage of concrete, aluminum rods and bronze shards. Recently,
she added glass and bases that are stones from the Bay of Fundy.
Over the last five years, she has also returned to painting, a medium from which she takes a lot of pleasure and satisfaction.
Desgagné has participated in several symposia in Quebec since the year 2000 and has exhibited in several locations across Canada and around the world including a December 2011 exhibition at the “Carrousel du Louvre” in Paris, following a selection from the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris. She also exhibited in “Berre-les-alpes” (near Nice) in April 2012 at the invitation of the Canadian consulate. She is the winner of numerous prizes and distinctions.
R. Guy Pilon passed away in 2012 at the age of eighty-four but his work lives on, unveiling a rich and luminous palette of colors. In paintiings of profiles, faces, and animals Pilon displays a rich and imaginative landscape that gives the spectator the space necessary to interpret the painting in his or her own way.
Pilon entered the art scene at the age of eight when, as a punishment for having caricatured his teacher, the young child was challenged with reproducing a Christmas card representing a winter scene in pastel. The resulting work was so impressive that the teacher went on to encourage Pilon to put his talents to use. The artist went on to worked for more than 20 years as an illustrator and painter decorator for the City of Montreal, making posters, models, decorations, murals and many others for the “Théâtre de la Roulotte” by Paul Buissonneau, the “Jardin des Merveilles”, the Aquarium, the Planetarium , the Botanical Garden, Angrignon Park and the Biodôme.
The collection on display at the museum is drawn from the more than 1,200 cavasses he produced after retiring in 1994.
