A new emotional support helpline for Eastern Townships women
domestic violence and psychological distress. We want Townships Women to know that we are only a call away and ready to listen to their concerns and accompany them towards improving their living conditions.”
Training for staff and volunteers to be able to offer individual support by phone will be offered by Secours-amitié Estrie in English as well as our umbrella organization L’R des Centre de femmes du Québec.
The phone number to dial to talk to someone and get some support is 819 564-6626. If the line is busy, women are invited to try and call a bit later if they don’t want to leave a message with their phone number.
In addition to their new phone helpline, the LDWC is also pursuing some of its activities via a web conferencing platform.
For example, starting this
Wednesday at 6:30 pm, English-speaking moms from anywhere in the Eastern Townships can attend the Parent Tap workshops from home and for free.
These online activities with Charity Kerrigan, Early Childhood Educator, will discuss topics for parents of young children (ages 0-12) and offer them support and resources. Also, every Thursday at 10 am, to replace the Playgroup activity that was taking place at the local Community Centre, moms with kids between ages 0 and 5 will be invited to join an online chat to exchange some tips on how to cope with the confinement and stay sane! To find out more about these activities, call 819-564-6626 or check out the LDWC’S Facebook page.
