In response to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 crisis and the emotional distress that will inevitably come with it, the Lennoxvill­e and District Women’s Centre (LDWC) decided to lend an ear to the Anglophone women of our community who are experienci­ng anxiety, worry and loneliness or who simply wish to talk to someone.

This entirely confidenti­al phone service will be available Mondays to Thursdays between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. starting on April 1, and will offer compassion­ate listening and referrals. This phone line will also serve to connect seniors or people in quarantine with volunteers who can run errands for them (ex.: groceries, medication, etc).

“We normally offer group activities and individual support at our Centre. With the pandemic, we are adapting the way we offer these services to the women of our community,” said Terry Moore, Executive Director of the LDWC. “With everyone confined to their homes, new needs may arise and some situations might get worse, for example
