New contactless lending service at Magog Library

Magog municipal council recently approved the establishment of a contactless document lending service at the Memphrémagog Library.

Françoise Ménard, who manages the library, explained the operation of this new service in a recent press release. “Even though the library remains closed to the public, subscribers can make their choice of documents (books for adults, teenagers or children, board games, DVDS, etc.) to borrow by consulting the ‘Regard’ catalogue directory on the library’s Web site http://biblio.ville.magog.qc.ca/regard to reserve the documents they want to borrow in advance. Members can contact the library for more information or assistance in making reservations,” Ménard explained.

This service became available to Bibliothèque Memphrémagog subscribers as of Thursday, May 21.

Library staff will prepare the orders which will be placed in a biodegradable bag identified with the subscriber’s name, taking care to respect all health guidelines in effect. All loaned documents will have been quarantined for 72 hours.

“The subscriber will be notified by email when the materials are ready and can come to the door of the dropoff area (on the side of the library, accessible from the parking lot). We ask people to park their vehicles or bicycles before joining the queue and to respect the physical distance of two metres,” added Ménard.

The collection schedule is Wednesday to Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. All documents are loaned free of charge during this temporary service. There are no late fees from March 1 until the library reopens.

The City of Magog asks subscribers to bring back the documents they have in their possession to the outdoor book chute, which is open at all times.
