Quebec records lowest number of daily new COVID 19 cases since March 26

Quebec announced a plan to relaunch its cultural sector Monday, as the province recorded the lowest number of reported COVID-19 deaths over a 24-hour period in almost two months.
Premier Francois Legault said his government will inject $250 million of new money to help the struggling cultural industry, which has seen plays, concerts and other shows cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
``Culture is the soul of Quebecers,’’ Legault told a news conference in Montreal. ``Quebecers adore their artists and they are missing them.’’
The premier said his government is working on a timetable for the reopening of certain venues that can begin welcoming a reduced number of spectators, ``but we aren’t there yet.’’

There was another fire in Bury on Sunday night, this time at the canteen building in Memorial Park along the village’s Main Street. This marks the fourth fire in the small community since May 18, and the third since last Thursday, raising concerns in the community about the likelihood of arson.
Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesperson Aurelie Guindon said that like the three previous fires, there is no known cause for the Sunday night fire yet. All four fires remain under investigation, with no further information available at this time.
Bury Fire Chief Edward Jacklin told The Record that the most recent fire got started around 10:15 p.m. Although the structure of the canteen was not completely destroyed, Jacklin said that it will have to be rebuilt to be functional.
