fair we were playing the beer Garden and Tommy Wheeler was on the main stage, I happened to be around the main stage and Tommy asked me if I would sing the National anthem. I said yes and the people really appreciated it! So that was an honour,” she stressed.

She goes on remembering that the late Steve Powers said that she was welcome to be on his stage anytime and she also enjoyed getting up with the late Gordy Smith. “He was very talented and he played a different style than Lyndon. So it was another experience,” she added.

Sheldon doesn’t care for today’s country music, she can’t even turn the radio on to listen. She said that it is pop music, not country music. She is also proud of our local musicians today. According to her they are extremely talented and a real nice bunch of people.

Sheldon was married and has four children, all sons. “One passed away but the three others can sing their heads off,” she said. Sheldon has many successors. Her two nephews Brent and Nick (Lyndon’s son) followed in the family’s footsteps. They have formed the popular band called Old School Country and every chance Lois Sheldon gets, she gets up with them to perform a few numbers.

She finally married Roger Sanville, the love of her life in 2010. Sanville was an American who brought her to live in Vermont.

“Although Roger has since passed, I’ve decided to still remain with my wonderful in- laws in Vermont,” she explained.

But the lady never misses a chance to come home and perform at different events. She has been part of the local country music scene for so long that all the current bands are happy to welcome her to their stage. They all think the world of this gifted woman.

“I’ve known Lois for a long time, and I am happy to call her one of my good friends. I have fond memories of seeing her performing with the band at Crystal Beach and I was so impressed with them and their choices of songs. I recall one time I was coming down from Montreal and stopped to see them play and heard Lois sing a Barbara Mandrell song called Years.” I went back to Montreal and had to learn it. It was my favorite song to sing for many years,” Bobbi Dee said.

She might have been Lyndon’s sister but she never realized that people loved her not because of her brother, but for her delightful personality and her diversified talents as an entertainer, a great entertainer!
