Vivre Ici Décor in TBL enjoys a successful and optimistic opening

- By Cassandra Pegg Special to Brome Country News

New businesses have been cropping up in the Town of Brome Lake as of late, including a new home design store at 455 Knowlton road.

Vivre Ici Décor opened on Sept. 10 in the building that once housed Bousada. The owners of Vivre Ici Décor, Sonia Daigle and Sylvain Bolduc, had their eye on the building for quite a while.

For the last five years Daigle said her dream of opening a boutique for house decoration grew day by day, and she had fallen in love with the location back when it was still Bousada.

“Everything placed itself perfectly for me to rent this building.”

Vivre Ici Décor sells flooring, drapes and blinds, kitchen designs, bedding and gifts and the owners add that their customers can go from A to Z with them, since they have connections to cover lighting, landscaping, furnishing and just about anything else that has to do with house design.

Bolduc explained that one of Daigle’s strengths is her ability to listen and find solutions for her clients.

“I invite the clients to talk for an hour and before I suggest anything, I want to learn their style of life, how they live in their house”.

Both owners want to make the space a place to meet, not just a boutique, and made sure to include a kitchen area on the first floor to talk and plan.

Daigle explained that she has been in the home design business for ten years. She also owned a shop in Knowlton called Mademoiselle Rose for several years before it closed. She began her career staging houses and had her first grand success with a house in Brome Lake that had been on the market for a year and a half. Once she staged it, said Daigle, the house sold in two months.

She is very active on Houzz.com, a website for finding inspiration and professionals for home renovations and design. She has won the ‘Best of Houzz’ award seven years in a row and is very well reviewed.

With all this experience under her belt, it was a logical step for her and her husband to open the boutique. They are certain they have found a business niche that is lacking in the area.

“We are here to respond to a demand,” explained Bolduc, “There is a boom of new construction in the area.”

The owners explained that the boutique is in a central part of the region, so they are hopeful that customers from areas like Sutton, Mansonville or Granby will come to them as there are not very many options of businesses offering the services that Vivre Ici Décor offers.

Daigle added that they offer many Canadian products and that they have some very unique and exclusive pieces like day beds and swings, such as the ones that hang on the store’s porch, that are not found elsewhere in the region.

Their mission is to appeal to people in the area and offer the styles that people want.

Daigle mentioned that modern farmhouse is the style that they generally go for and explained further that because she was born here, serving the surrounding communities takes on an even more important meaning for her.

The business is allowing her to return to her source and both she and Bolduc believe that Vivre Ici Décor is here to stay and will continue to grow and become the place that people first think of when renovating or decorating their homes.

Daigle and Bolduc are committed to reach all the way to the end of Daigle’s dream and goals with this business. The Town of Brome Lake has certainly gained a promising new business.
