Canadian veterans offered free parking in Magog

-

Canadian Armed Forces and Canadian veterans will now be able to park for free in Magog. The City adopted the new parking regulation at the September 21 municipal council meeting.

This by-law allows free parking to any holder of a commemorative licence plate. They will automatically have free access to parking spaces served by parking meters and parking meters in the City of Magog.

The purpose of this measure is to recognize the dedication and courage of those who fought for our country. “By facilitating their travel, the City Council wishes to show its gratitude to veterans who have participated in combat or peacekeeping operations to protect human rights, freedom and justice around the world. We are proud of them and we thank them for the sacrifices they make for us,” said the Mayor of the City of Magog, Mrs. Vickimay Hamm.

In Quebec, nearly a dozen cities offer this privilege to veterans, including Saint-jean-sur-richelieu, Sherbrooke, Victoriaville, Trois-rivières, Granby and Cowansville.
