What does being in a red zone again look like for TBL?

- BCN Staff

Now that the Estrie region has slipped from orange into red, more severe restrictions have been reinstated and it can be confusing to determine what is open and what is not.

In the Town of Brome Lake, businesses and restaurants of all sorts have had to adapt yet again and this article will outline some of the changes to look out for.

First, gyms have been closed once again which means that Athletica Lac Brome has had to close its doors until further notice.

Pettes Memorial Library, which only recently was able to start letting people come in again has had to go back to the previous restrictions. This means that no members will be able to enter the library, but the library will continue to rent out books. This can be done by visiting the library’s website and either reserving books through the catalogue or emailing the library at pettes.bpl@ gmail.com with a list of books alongside the members name and membership number. The staff at the library will prepare the order and have it ready for

the next day.

Moving on to restaurants, dining rooms have had to close so many have gone back to offering takeout only. Star Café for example recently announced their limited takeout menu which will be available after 10 a.m. on business days. Chez Moi Chez Toi has continued to offer take out throughout the last few months and will continue to do so. La Knowlton Co, Domaine Jolivent, Restaurant des Érables, Buzz Bistro, Auberge Knowlton (who will be adjusting their hours) and more also have takeout options. Bakeries will also stay open as well as cafés.

The thrift stores in town have been keeping strict routines of disinfecting items and will remain open as well with the colour change.

For TBL high school students, all after school activities have been cancelled once again.

It is unclear as of yet whether council meetings will go back to being held virtually.

Stores in Knowlton have already been operating under strict restrictions and will continue to do so as they have not been mandated to close while the region is red.

All businesses and services in the area will be adapting to the new label and navigating the new challenges it may pose. It remains more important than ever to support local businesses and to stay abreast of the changes as they unfold.
